Day 1 of 6: From the Quarry to Your Countertops—Let’s See How It Begins!
After nearly 40 years in the stone fabrication industry as a business owner, some questions I’m often asked by customers are: Where does natural stone come from? How does it get here? And why do some slabs have mesh on the back?
Over the next several days, I’ll share photos and videos found online highlighting the remarkable journey natural stone takes before arriving at Tri-State Stone & Tile in Rockaway, NJ.
The process begins at quarries around the world, where massive blocks of stone are separated from the earth using drills, wedges, and diamond wire saws. As shown here, natural stones can vary significantly in color and pattern, even within the same type of stone.
Stay tuned for the next step tomorrow!
